WHEREAS, 3525 Turtle Creek Blvd. was designed by the prominent Dallas architect, Howard R. Meyer, completed in 1957; and
WHEREAS, during its first 50 years, 3525 has been home and host to many legendary entertainers, politicians, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists; and
WHEREAS, since the construction of 3525 in the mid 1950s, no apartment building in Texas and few elsewhere in the United States have equaled it, and
WHEREAS, 3525 Turtle Creek is placed as Dallas' first modern high-rise apartment building by the National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, 3525 Turtle Creek is listed as the first luxury high-rise apartment to be built in the park created along Turtle Creek by the National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, when 3525 Turtle Creek was opened to the public, newspaper and magazine articles across the country termed it, “the tallest, largest, and most luxurious apartment building ever erected west of the Mississippi.”
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TOM LEPPERT, mayor of the City of Dallas and on behalf of the Dallas City Council, do hereby extend special recognition to
3525 TURTLE CREEK BLVD.
for its historical significance to Dallas, Texas
